Warhammer 40K: Tacticus is notorious for having missions that require users to dish out an insane amount of damage. The recent Shadowsun Philosophies of War event has a mission track that requires players to deal 25,000 Heavy Round damage, which seems impossible if you don’t have the right characters.
Luckily for you, we’re going to break down the best Tacticus characters to use for Heavy Round damage missions. If you don’t have these characters, you can always try your luck by opening Requisition Scrolls with Blackstone. If you don’t have enough Blackstone, you might want to see if there are any Tacticus promo codes you haven’t redeemed yet. Anyways, here’s our quick guide to Tacticus Heavy Round damage missions.
Characters That Deal Heavy Round Damage in Tacticus
There are currently only a handful of characters that deal Heavy Round damage in Tacticus, which is why it’s so hard to complete these missions. If you only have Certus, for example, then you’re basically out of luck and won’t be able to complete the mission.
There are currently only 2 characters that deal Heavy Round damage with their basic attacks: Maugan Ra and Volk. There are also 4 characters that deal Heavy Round damage with their abilities: Certus, Maugan Ra, Sho’syl, and Volk. If you only have characters that deal this damage type with their abilities, you can probably just forget about completing the mission.
Unless it’s a mission that is around for a long period of time, Certus and Sho’syl will not deal enough damage with their abilities to complete it in a meaningful amount of time. You basically need Volk or Maugan Ra to complete this mission in a short amount of time.
How to Get Characters That Deal Heavy Round Damage
You’ll start the game with Certus, but they won’t be enough to finish a mission that requires thousands of points of Heavy Round damage. Sho’syl also won’t be enough either but can be found through opening Requisition Scrolls if you’d like to have them anyways.
Maugan Ra is currently only available through their Path of the Phoenix legendary character event. This event first debuted in December of 2022 and will come around two more times before Maugan Ra is available through Requisition Scrolls. Thankfully, Volk is a little easier to get and can be farmed through the Fall of Cadia Mirror campaign or through Requisition Scrolls. Volk is high-tier character in Tacticus, so you’ll need him for more than Heavy Round damage missions anyways.
Grinding Out Heavy Round Damage Missions in Tacticus
Grinding out these missions usually isn’t too bad, especially once you have Volk or Maugan Ra and can deal Heavy Round damage with every attack. The best way to do this is to go about your daily Arena runs, Guild Raids, Salvage Runs, and Onslaughts with the mission in mind. Use Maugan Ra and Volk whenever you can and rely on them to deal all of the damage without losing the battle.
Fall of Cadia missions allow you to use Volk and only cost 6 energy. Choose one of the missions with a lot of Cadian Vox-Casters. Next, clear the level out beside the Vox-Casters so that you can routinely let them spawn new enemies, which you will then kill and farm for damage points. This isn’t entirely efficient since they might flee from Battle Fatigue, but it’s still better than nothing.
Hopefully, the devs, Snowprint, add in more Heavy Round damage characters because these missions are extremely hard for players to beat. Maugan Ra is unobtainable for a majority of the player base since LREs are insanely hard to complete. Volk is the only reliable Heavy Round damage dealer in Tacticus, but unless you get lucky and pull him out of a req or have access to the Fall of Cadia Mirror campaign, he’s unobtainable too.
It’s not advised to spend Blackstone on reqs anyways, so don’t go hunting for Volk. You’re better off waiting to find him or grinding him out.

Great article. I agree that Fall of Cadia missions allow you to use Volk and only cost 6 energy
