HoYoverse’s upcoming action RPG game, Zenless Zone Zero, has been making waves in the gaming community with its intriguing cast of characters and immersive gameplay. The game offers a unique take on the urban fantasy genre, featuring dimensional rifts, Ethereals, and a post-apocalyptic cityscape.
But as cool as the game looks, everybody wants to know who they’ll be rolling for when the game makes its official debut. With that, here’s a look at all the Zenless Zone Zero characters we know are confirmed to come so you can plan your rolls ahead of time.
The Player Characters
We had Travelers in Genshin Impact and Trailblazers in Honkai: Star Rail. In Zenless Zone Zero, players take on the role of ‘Proxies,’ individuals uniquely capable of exploring ‘Hollows,’ mysterious rifts responsible for the world’s destruction.
In Zenless Zone Zero, Proxies fulfill the roles of guides and protectors for those venturing into the enigmatic Hollows. Within this category of characters, players have the option to select from a female Proxy named Belle and a male Proxy named Wise.
Belle and Wise, initially speculated to be player avatars, are now confirmed characters in Zenless Zone Zero.
Interestingly, these two Proxies are introduced as both siblings and co-proprietors of the intriguing Random Play movie store. Furthermore, as part of a unique arrangement, they collaborate as a unified Proxy entity known by the codename “Phaeton” within the extensive Proxy Network INTER-KNOT.
It’s not explained how our Proxies have these powers yet, but it looks like we’re not getting amnesiac protagonists this time.
Gentle House / Cunning Hares
The largest faction, Gentle House, also known as the Cunning Hares, stands as an odd-job faction within the game. The Gentle House is a human resources agency that specializes in outsourced work relating to Hollows.
This faction features a group of compelling characters:
Billy the Kid
Voiced by Hayashi Yuu, Billy Kid is a cyborg wielding dual pistols and exuding a carefree personality.
Founder of Gentle House, equipped with a briefcase that transforms into a gun-type weapon.
Mysteriously adopted by Nicole, armed with a formidable blade-like weapon.
A short girl with cat ears wielding another unique bladed weapon. Nekmoya Mana is voiced by Hara Sayuri.
Belobog Heavy Industries
Another faction, Belobog Heavy Industries is in the infrastructure and construction industry and specializes in making heavy machinery for use in Hollows. The faction includes:
A large bear with brown fur, wielding a colossal metal slab for bludgeoning enemies with.
Koleda is the President of Belobog Heavy Industries. She is a small woman with long red hair, an eye patch, and a massive hammer.
A man with black and red spiky hair, bearing arm-mounted drills as weapons.
Section 6 is one of the newly established frontline operational units of the Special Operations Department. There are only two known characters from Section 6:
A woman in a formal office uniform wielding a sci-fi katana.
A blue-skinned woman with horns, who appears to use a large metal pole as a weapon.
Victoria House Keeping
A human resources outsourcing agency, Victoria Housekeeping, is an old-fashioned agency that started out as a housekeeping services provider. Today, they also provide Hollow-related services.
Voiced by Igarashi Hiromi, Corin Wickes is the maid of Victoria Housekeeping and is said to be unaware of her own strength.
Von Lycaon, a male fox-man dressed as a butler, relies on martial arts-style combat. Von Lycaon’s character is voiced by Kobayashi Chikahiro.
Back in June, HoYoverse unveiled a new character introduced simply as Soldier 11, who belongs to a new, unspecified faction. From her name and the logo we see in the trailer that says “defense force,” we can guess she’s part of a government arm we haven’t been introduced to yet. Right now, we only know it’s called the OBOLS Squad.
Soldier 11 has white hair and wields a sword. Interestingly, she looks like Anby Demara from the Gentle House faction and, not only that, has a similar weapon.
Other characters to look out for
Beyond the core factions, the game teases a host of intriguing characters. This includes small creatures resembling rabbit teddy bears with glowing round eyes, a crab-style robot managing a shop, and a robot with green hair and glowing green eyes.
Zenless Zone Zero holds great promise with its fast-paced gameplay and diverse character design, at least compared to other HoYoVerse games. The release date remains shrouded in mystery, adding to the anticipation surrounding this unique urban fantasy adventure.
