Snowprint recently released an update for Tacticus that included a new store for players that have already reached the endgame. The Rogue Trader can be the best new addition to the game if you’ve stockpiled shards since the game’s release and have a few max star characters. New players—even most players—will not have access to this feature due to its costly requirements. If you have unlocked the Rogue Trader in Tacticus, or you’re just interested in learning more about it, here’s everything you need to know.
What is the Rogue Trader
The Rogue Trader is a new shop players can unlock, similar to the Guild Shop. It has offers that change daily and can even be refreshed once a day for 250 Blackstone. It’s meant for players that have already reached the endgame or happened to have promoted and ascended a character to the highest star possible.
There are a ton of goodies within the Rogue Trader shop, but you’ll mainly find character shards, XP books, legendary equipment, and badges. Not everything is worth purchasing, though, so make sure you know what you’re doing before you go wasting your Archeotech shards. The top 3 slots will always be character shards, with the leftmost slot being the featured character. The bottom right slot is always a piece of legendary gear. The middle bottom slot is typically forge badges, while the final slot is always a form of XP books.
How to unlock the Rogue Trader
Do you have a character with hundreds of shards more than you’ll ever need? Before the Rogue Trader patch, those shards were useless, and there was nothing you could do with extra character shards. Now, Snowprint allows you to convert them to Archeotech Shards once you’ve promoted your character to the highest star rank possible.
After doing this, you’ll unlock the Rogue Trader and can take a look at the new shop. There are even two new packs you can purchase with real money if you’d like. The one-time pack isn’t exactly worth it, but the $99.99 pack can be worth it—if you feel like dropping that much money on the game, most players just stick to redeeming codes for rewards instead.
That pack gives you 100 Archeotech Shards and a new portrait border immediately, along with 1 Requisition Scroll, 10 Archeotech Shards, and 5000 Coins a day for the next 30 days. It’s a popular pack among whales since the Rogue Trader shop can be the best way of getting XP books which you desperately need in the endgame. That said, the Guild Shop also has a $99.99 pack that allows you to get XP books too, so you’ll have to consider both options if you’re just looking for XP.
Best things to buy in the Rogue Trader Shop
The best thing to buy in the Rogue Trader shop is the Legendary XP books. You can buy 4 or 6 a day, depending on which offer you receive. There are 2 offers: 2 books for 25 Shards or 3 books for 35 Shards. Either offer has a stock of 2, which is why you can get a total of 4 or 6 a day.
After Legendary XP books, you might want to look at buying shards for characters you don’t own yet or would like to upgrade. You’re looking at 4 Archeotech Shards for every 1 character shard, which can get pricey quickly. It can be a great way of farming legendaries you don’t have yet, rather than farming them the traditional way or relying on pure luck and Requisition Scrolls.
Legendary Equipment isn’t a bad buy either, especially if it’s for a character you use often. Legendary Equipment is always in the 4th slot and costs 200 Archeotech Shards, which can be a steep price for some.
On occasion, you might find Salvage available through the Rogue Trader too. This isn’t a bad buy, but if you’re low on Archeotech Shards, you might want to just save them for XP books. Everything else in the Rogue Trader isn’t really worth spending your shards on.
How to get more Archeotech Shards (Rogue Trader Currency)
The only way to get more Archeotech Shards is by buying one of the two packs offered in the Rogue Trader store or by getting more shards for a character that you have already maxed. You’ll have to pray that you get them again in a Requisition Scroll or somehow come across their shards somewhere else in the game.
